Abstract
The present study of the "Development of scientific-pedagogical contents of the discipline of Physics for teaching the 10th year of secondary education", its main objective is to investigate the reality of teaching 10th grade Physics teachers of General Secondary Education (GSE) in Timor-Leste, related to the thematic unit of Rest and Motion, Motion in Security and Motion Energy. Therefore, a working group of physics teachers was organized with the Instituto Nacional de Formação de Docentes e Profissionais da Educação de Timor-Leste (INFORDEPE) for the design of scientific-pedagogical contents of the thematic studied.
A documentary analysis of the set of documents established by the MoEYS was also carried out, representing the GSE physics curriculum. Thus, the structure is presented as physics teaching is currently organized by the Office of Evaluation and Curricular Development of the MoEYS in Timor-Leste. It is also intended to make known the curricular organization of the ESG and a brief description of the evolution of the physics program for the 10th, 11th and 12th year of education.
To build a profile of physics teachers of the 10th year of the GSE participants in the research, 24 questionnaires were applied in four municipalities of Timor-Leste, to be included: 5 teachers from Ainaro, 6 teachers from Lautem, 6 teachers from Manatuto and 7 teachers from Manu-Fahi. The aim was to obtain more academic information from teachers and the pedagogical teaching-learning process adopted by them in relation to the use of the Student Manual at GSE. The organization of the working group of physics teachers in both secondary and elementary school had the intention of developing slides in PowerPoint a set of 24 classes for teaching related to the thematic units.
The results obtained reveal that the teachers make the lesson plan based on contents of the Student Manual and Teacher's Guide but fail to finalize all content as guided by the national curriculum. The data indicate, 58.33% of teachers say that they were unable to teach all the contents of the Student Manual to their students for reasons of having reduced time and little understanding, both due to scientific and linguistic difficulties. Therefore, there is a difficulty in preparing the abstracts and only 41.67% of teachers revealed that they were able to finish. However, they only summarized the content, which did not include laboratory practice. Regarding the formation of the | 9 contents, 50% of teachers say that they have not yet attended any training and 50% show that they have already attended the training of INFORDEPE, but only one of the three topics that exists in the student manual. The data indicate 66.67% of teachers already have Microsoft office knowledge such as: Word, Excel and PowerPoint and there are still 33.33% of teachers who do not know how to use Microsoft. With the results obtained in this research, we have to consult teachers, both basic education (BE) teachers and GSE teachers to develop a set of teaching proposals for classes, that use more familiar language and the most easily found images in daily life compiled in an alternative digital PowerPoint manual for GSE physics teachers.
The purpose of this research is to contribute to the Component of Physical and Natural Sciences in Timor-Leste, particularly in the physics learning process at GSE to offer MoEYS or INFORDEPE a didactic material for specific training to physics teachers.
